In the previous two posts we have looked at the fear that is based on indifference and indecision. In this post we will look at doubt. And, like the other fears, doubt has a valid time and place. Yet, if you let doubt rule you, your circle of accomplishment and your feelings of self-worth will be very small. As a personal development business coach in The Woodlands and as a personal development business coach in Houston I have seen doubt sabotage talented people. When I had businesses of my own, some as large as eighty people, I let doubt creep in and keep me from greater accomplishment. Doubt is highly personal. It is a fear we generate based on our view of ourselves and our world. It is one the hardest enemies to overcome because it demands that we change our perspective, our reality, on ourselves and our world. If I were to pick one self-improvement tip for success, it would be to always have self-awareness of your doubts. Without it, you will be fighting the same battles and wondering why you are not getting better results. In the previous three posts we have looked at the fear that is based on indifference, indecision and doubt. In this post we will look at worry. And, like the other fears, worry has a valid time and place. Yet, when you are consumed with worry it robs you of the energy and focus to accomplish what you have set out to do… As a business coach in The Woodlands and as a business coach in Houston I have seen worry take people off course and actually make things worse than the worry itself. In my businesses, when I started to hire people and had to make a payroll, I definitely had a great deal of worry. After all, cash flow in the beginning my businesses was not predictable. And sometimes it meant paying everyone except myself. In turn, that created another set of worries. In the previous four posts we have looked at the fears that is based on indifference, indecision, doubt and worry. In this post we will look at timidity. And, like the other fears, timidity at times can certainly be appropriate. Yet, when you are overcome with timidity it will keep you from advancing. As a business coach in The Woodlands and as a business coach in Houston I have seen and experienced timidity. What is timidity? Quite simply, timidity is overly cautious. Timidity or over caution, will keep people on the sidelines when they need to be in the game of business and life. Interestingly, timidity can hold back talented and nice people. Why? A timid person will not take a risk. They always want to have both feet planted firmly on the ground. If you think about it, when you take a step forward, you get out of balance. Timid people love balance. Yet, when you are totally in balance, you cannot move. Very often timid people although qualified will not get the promotion or be offered opportunities to advance. Why? Because others see that stepping out or taking a risk makes them uncomfortable. In my business coaching practice, timidity is something that everyone has to deal with at times. Sometimes it is appropriate. But if you let the over caution of timidity govern you it will leave you out of more opportunities in business and life than you can imagine. Timidity is connected to indifference, indecision, doubt and worry in that all these enemies from within are cured or alleviated by action. Where worry may take someone off course, timidity will prevent you from taking another course that may greatly improve your business and life. It is an external behavior that stems from a high self esteem. Self confidence means believing in yourself that you can be effective in the world, feeling able to handle the challenges of the world to achieve goals. So, how to build confidence and self esteem? In the previous post we looked at some factors that can take your networking to not working. Lack of soft skills, people skills is the biggest challenge in today’s fast paced world. For networking to work we must be effective with others which means being truly interested in them and willing to listen. One of the keys to success in your networking is the culture you bring into every interaction. Your culture is a reflection of how you think and care about yourself. Remember, the goal of networking is to build deeper relationships. If the culture you are bringing is toxic that will not happen. As a Personal Development Training houston in The Woodlands and as a personal business coach in Houston I have witnessed with clients the impact their culture can have on relationships. The first thing you must bring in your culture to others is a sense of safety. If people sense you are turbulent, angry, totally into your own opinions they realize this is not a safe place to be. If it is not safe, they will leave. Bringing safety and some calm are excellent foundations for building deeper relationships. Only when people feel safe, can they be creative in expanding and deepening a relationship. Creativity is essential to seeing greater dimensions in people and to building deeper relationships. In previous posts, we have looked at gratitude, happiness and serving others and how your self-talk can guide you in these areas. Also, we have looked at an essential element of your mindset for successful networking. You must focus on what you can control, which is you and your thoughts. Do not focus on what you cannot control, which is others. Part of the control issue is that when we first network with someone there can be a tendency to have a “fixer upper attitude” or “I am here to help.” While both of these may sound good, they actually can work against you and your goal of building deeper relationships through networking. Over the past few weeks, the coronavirus has changed all of our lives significantly. We have never seen something like this. The medical impact can be frightening. And the economic impact, remains to be seen, but it could be disastrous. Instead of writing about personal development, self-improvement, personal growth and leadership which are areas in which I collaborate with others in my personal business coaching practice, I believe it is best to share some thoughts that may support you as we go through a time where in many cases, and you can include me, our lives have been turned upside down. A time where fear and panic, the two horsemen of relationship and societal destruction are running wild. Problem or predicament? A problem is something that can be readily solved. For example, I am thirsty. That is a problem. I get a glass of water and the problem is solved. On the other hand, a predicament is a problem we have to endure. The coronavirus pandemic has caused us to look inward and outward in examining our lives. And, when you do this examination on a foundation of uncertainty it can make you feel worse, not better. But there is something you can examine. And, maybe there is some positive action you can take. As we go through life, we all have appetites that we feel we must satisfy. It can be recreation, money, love, food, solitude, exercise, etc. So, what are your appetites? In my personal business coaching, which can involve personal development training, self-improvement training, leadership and personal growth and development coaching, I am always looking for appetites. What we have an appetite for will guide us to where we spend most of our focus and energy. And, very often, if we just alter that energy and focus, that appetite some, amazing improvements can take place. At a time like this with the new and unsettling coronavirus that in many cases is having a catastrophic impact medically and economically, it is a good time to examine our appetites to see what we must modify or eliminate to survive and ultimately thrive. There is something I do know. The two most important concepts for a civil, peaceful society to function are to have a clear definition of “what is okay” and “what is not okay. In your own life you determine “what is okay” and “what is not okay.” For society, “What is okay” has laws, customs and guidelines. “What is not okay” creates its own law, which in truth is the rule of men and their decisions at the moment as to “what is okay,” not law, along with their own special customs and guidelines. When “what is okay,” is not enforced, then “what is not okay” takes over. This is when lawlessness becomes the law. Fear sets in. And people when people see and feel this, they become scared. They are not themselves. They will pander to the fear in hopes of pacifying it and that the threat that is causing the fear will go away. In reality, nothing is being done to curb the source of the fear. There is no pushback. Without pushback, what is unreasonable becomes reasonable. And this is dangerous. As a result, the fear starts to appear in people’s minds to be stronger and more pervasive than it is. When it comes to fear, everyone’s feelings are valid. It is how we choose to act on them that can ultimately bring us together or tear us apart. What happened in Minneapolis to George Floyd is horrible by any standard. It is inexcusable. What is happening to the rest of the country as a result, is inexcusable. There is a huge difference, obvious even to the casual observer, between peaceful protests and rioting. The pain and suffering of countless individuals and businesses along with the economic destruction is unwarranted because “what is happening is not okay.” Read More About Click Here : Personal Development Training houston personal growth development training in houston Personal business coach houston Websites : https://www.selfimprovement-tips.com/ Contact Us : personal development coaching services houston

What hat are you wearing when you think? Years ago when I was studying what makes an effective team I came across a book, The Six Thinking Hats by Edward DeBono. One of the premises was that for effective teamwork that it was important to have different perspectives. And, as a team leader it is important to have a variety of prisms in thought in order to be able to move forward on a project or task with greater confidence. First, it is important to understand that each team member has preferred ways of thinking. As a leader, you may be able to discern what is the best hat for someone to wear. 1. White Hat Thinking-With this thinking you focus on the data available. You analyze from past trends and extrapolate from historical data. 2. Red Hat Thinking- You look at problems using your intuition, not reaction and emotion. Your goal is to understand others’ response intuitively, even if they don’t know your reasoning. 3. Black Hat Thinking- You look for all the bad points in a decision. You look at things cautiously and defensively. You observe why they may not work. Your goal is to highlight the weak points of a plan. With good Black Hat Thinking flaws can be found and corrected that will make the plan stronger. 4. Yellow Hat Thinking- This is about thinking positively. It is the optimistic viewpoint that helps you see all the benefits of the decision and the value in it. 5. Green Hat Thinking- The Green Hat stands for creativity. You develop creative solutions to problems. It is a freewheeling way of thinking where the team is not there to criticize them so much as to encourage as many ideas as possible to come forward to make for a better project or plan. Commandism and Tailism are boundaries that are on purpose poorly defined. Let’s say you are part of a political movement, or you are working for a company. The leader of the political movement or a leader in your company asks you to do a special task or project. You approach it with enthusiasm and get it done on time and better than expected. Everything should be good. You should be recognized for your extraordinary efforts. Yet, you are chastised for being too enthusiastic. You did your project too well. The leader feels threatened because he feels that other will look at you as the leader. He puts you in your place by telling you that he appreciates what you did for him but that you showed too much enthusiasm and care in completing the project. As a result, you are no longer asked to work on any significant projects or tasks. This is because you violated the law of Commandism. You were impetuous. You took too much command. Did you? Here’s the problem, “too much” is never defined. As a result, the leader controls the situation by eliminating or minimizing those who show, in his opinion, too much leadership. He can’t stand your threat to his leadership. As a result, he makes an example of you. In totalitarian regimes you mysteriously disappear. In business you either get fired, demoted or keep your title with less responsibilities. Other people see this and take note. They are not going to be accused of Commandism.
